Our History
Since 1965 Hackney's in Wheeling has been hosting successful parties of various sizes and occasions, using both our regular menu and special private party menus.

Our Facilities
Our newly remodeled Poet's Corner Pub is one of 3 rooms available. Our rooms hold 15-100 guests. We have years of experience serving Wedding rehearsal dinners, birthdays, cocktail and hors d'oeuvre parties, sports banquets, business meetings, wedding and baby showers, anniversary parties, retirement, school functions and business meetings, privately and semi-privately to accomodate your group.

Menu
We have created the attached party menu selections based on years of experience serving parties. Your ideas are welcome. We remain flexible to accommodate the needs of each group.

Deposits / Gratuity / Sale Tax
A deposit will be required to secure all private reservations. This will be deducted from your final bil. All deposits are non-refundable. An 18% gratuity will be added, as will 10% sales tax required.

Guarantees

• The menu must be decided upon 3 days in advance of the party.
• Your guest count must be guaranteed 24 hours in advance.
• The final count is the minimum number of guests for which you will be charged.
• Based on the final count, your room may be subject to change.

Hackney's in Wheeling Bar Information Sheet

The cocktail hour is an important part of most parties. Guests mingle, meet other guests whom they might not know, or catch up with old friends. The casual conversations initiated during the cocktail hour become the fuller conversation of the table. The guests are entertaining themselves, taking some of the pressure off of the host or hostess.

Here are some options for the cocktail hour:

Open Bar
Hackney's has prepared "The World's Second-Best Martini" for over 60 years. We pour good-quality brands in our well. We offer a full range-over a hundred different brands-of spirits, beer, and wine.

Under the open bar option, our servers will offer your guests this full range of choice, which will be added to the bill.

Cash Bar
The same range of choices can be offered to your guests with a cash bar. In this instance, our servers will collect the price of each drink from the guests. Or your guests may get their own drinks from the bar.

Beer & Wine
A popular way to offer your guests something to drink while keeping costs down is to set up a beer and wine table. This table often becomes the social center of the party; the movement to and from the beer and wine table facilitates the mingling of your guests. We set a table with bottles of beer and wine on ice, with the glasses on the side. Your guests help themselves. At the end of the party, we tally up how much beer and wine was consumed and add it to the check.

The Bartender Option
If your party is booked in the Poets' Corner, which has a full-service bar, we can staff that bar with a bartender for a charge of 35 dollars. As the bar becomes the social center of the party, this option is highly recommended.

A sales tax of 10% will be added to all bar items. A gratuity of 18% will be added to the bar bill.
